February 2009

On Saturday 28th February 2009, 6 members from Epsom Rotaract left Epsom behind and headed

for the District 1140 Gala Ball being held at the Holiday Inn, Farnborough.

The Gala Ball, hosted by Hart & Rushmoor Rotaract, saw over 100 Rotaractors, Rotarians and their friends and families gather together for a great evenings entertainment and to help raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

Guests were kept entertained by Xplosion, a local girl group, and danced the night away to a great disco.

The evening raised over £2,100, an achievement that District 1140 can be very proud of!

January 2009

On Saturday 17th January, Epsom Rotaract swapped their familiar teritory of Epsom for a night out in Wimbledon. First up was a meal at the Slug & Lettuce followed by drinks at the

Australian themed Walkabout Bar.

December 2008

On Sunday 14th December, Epsom Rotaract celebrated our annual Christmas Meal with a trip to the Rubbing House Pub on Epsom Downs.

A great afternoon was had by all with some lovely food, lousy cracker jokes and amusing Secret Santa Presents. The event was also attended by Elisabetta, a Rotaractor from Italy.

The event was Gaby's last with the club before moving home to Australia to live. A presentation was made to Gaby of a photo collage of club events during her time with us along with a lovely jar of Marmite (so she doesn't forget what the proper stuff tastes like once she gets home).

October 2008

On Sat 25th October Hart and Rushmoor Rotaract club held a charity Halloween Party in Aid of the Frimley Park Hospital Safer Surgery Appeal at Crookham St Social club.

The event was attended by other rotaract clubs in the 1140 district, the neighbouring district 1090, family and friends. Their were Halloween games including pass the parcel and musical squares,followed by a delicious buffet, a spooky Halloween quiz, raffle,disco and best fancy dress prizes. In all the evening raised £569 for the Frimley Park Hospital Safer Surgery appeal.

Camberley Rotaract Club recently ran their annual Barn Dance.

The event was well supported by over 130 Rotaractors, Rotarians family and friends of current club members as well as past club members including an Assistant Governor and the Group Study Exchange team visiting the district from Brazil.

The evening was very successful and raised over £800 towards the target of £12,000 for next year’s

Rotaract Overseas Project, Go Gambia.

September 2008

We did it! On Saturday 12th September, Epsom Rotaract completed a sponsored walk up and down Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in the UK outside of Scotland. The group finished the walk in around 6 hours and raised roughly £700 for Wildlife Aid. A great weekend was had by all and plans are already being discussed as to what crazy adventure we will be going on next.

August 2008

The annual Banbury Camping Rally took place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, 2008 with over 120 Rotaractors from around the UK setting up camp in a field in Oxfordshire for a long weekend of fun and fancy dress. With some great outfits including an impromptu performance by the Ghost Busters, the annual community project and Welly Wanging competitions, the weekend was a great success.

Epsom Rotaract recently enjoyed a long weekend in Slindon near Chichester. The weekend included trips to Arundel on Saturday where we visited the Wetlands Centre and enjoyed a great pub lunch. Sunday saw the club head to the beach at West Wittering for a picnic.
